Think, Evolve, Strategize

EmpiriStat's President and CEO, Dr. Nicole C. Close, has been nominated to be part of Juniata College's Strategic Planning Steering Committee. The Committee is tasked with finding new ways to advance Juniata's mission to "provide an engaging personalized educational experience empowering our students to develop the skills, knowledge and values that lead to a fulfilling life of service and ethical leadership in the global community."
Juniata College, a private, liberal-arts college in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, is Dr. Close's undergraduate alma mater and the subject of much of her philanthropic work. Dr. Close is currently serving her tenure on the college's Board of Trustees as an Alumni Trustee, and regularly provides her wisdom and experience to current students via mentor relationships. Dr. Close had also served on the college's Alumni Council from 2005-2008, and is currently vice chair of the board of directors for the Juniata College Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (JCEL), and has served as an Executive Mentor to the business department students.
While Juniata already provides much of the experience their mission statement outlines, the Strategic Planning Steering Committee feels there are more opportunities and new goals that will make the College even better at preparing graduates for the challenges and opportunities ahead - and for effecting positive change in the world.
For the new Five Year Strategic Plan, the Committee will take a hard look at current strengths and areas for improvement as voted on via survey of employees, alumnus, students, trustees, Huntingdon community members, parents, business partners and donors. Juniata's motto, "Think-Evolve-Act," is taken seriously and is never static.
Dr. Close has also founded Bear Rock Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting company, in 2011 and EZ Camper OBX, Inc. in 2013, and serves as president for both companies.
