EmpiriStat Announced As Finalist for the 2011 Maryland Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award

EmpiriStat, Inc., and its founder Dr. Nicole C. Close, have been nominated and named as one of three finalists for this year’s Maryland Small Business of the Year Award: 1-10 Employees. The finalist will be recognized during the Small Business of the Year Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 2, at the BWI Airport Marriott Hotel.

EmpiriStat was also selected in 2011 as a finalist in the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce “Live Here Work Here” awards and the Women in Technology (WIT) award in the entrepreneur category.

In March 2008, EmpiriStat was founded with a unique mission: to discover the truth as far as possible. Dr. Close assembled a talented and skilled team and began forming partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organizations, the federal government and the U.S. Military and their partners worldwide.

In just over three years, Dr. Close’s careful investment in her team has been widely recognized by clients. To date, EmpiriStat has worked with 22 different organizations and over 65 clinical protocols—an accomplishment that many longer-established companies struggle to achieve. EmpiriStat’s team is committed to building long lasting collaborative relationships with their clients and believes that in order to forge these effective relationships, they must remain true to their key values: responsibility, integrity, and commitment to excellence.

EmpiriStat has grown organically through the voices of their clients. Remaining true to key values such, Dr. Close and her team have built lasting relationships that have proven to be a vital part of their success. “EmpiriStat runs a client-focused business with customer satisfaction and quality of services as their top priorities. They serve as the protocol statisticians for my research studies, participate in data safety monitoring boards, and even developed a statistical capacity-building workshop for the new researchers in Africa with whom I work. They have a totally positive attitude—and are efficient, effective, responsive, and flexible.” Said, Dr. Judi Chamberlin, formerly of the U.S. Military HIV Research Program, Kisumu, Kenya.

EmpiriStat has made significant and meaningful contributions to the local community by not only providing jobs to the local workforce, but also supporting local charitable efforts such as the local military’s Operation Happy Holidays and working with the Wounded Warrior Program through the American Legion. EmpiriStat has a passion for supporting our Nation’s military and is proud to have team members that are veterans and spouses of active duty Service Members.

EmpiriStat’s commitment to providing the highest level of service, coupled with a genuine reserve of good will makes them truly deserving of this nomination. Their team of professionals is compelled to learn and to engage themselves in the process of continual improvement corporately, professionally, and personally.
