EmpiriStat’s Dr. John Klaric Helps to Showcase Important Work at WAMC Symposium

EmpiriStat Principal Statistician Dr. John Klaric was one of three poster judges at the 2016 Womack Army Medical Center’s (WAMC) Research Symposium held on May 4, 2016 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Wednesday’s symposium included 16 presentations from researchers, most of who came from Womack Army Medical Center. Dr. Klaric was co-author on four of the presentations with Colleagues from the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center to Family Medicine and others.  Important research activities he was involved in included “Headaches in Soldiers with Mild Traumatic Brain Injury/Concussion: Occupational Outcomes” with Dr. Finkel; and “Impact of HPV Vaccination in the United States” with Drs. Tarney and Han.

The Symposium was well represented with research being conducted and presented by the Fayetteville VA Medical Center, Campbell University, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and Fayetteville State University.   There were interesting presentations that looked at opioid use at Fort Bragg, study of gender differences in the timing and frequency of musculoskeletal injuries in new soldiers, injuries from Army combatives competitions, and an analysis of how medical testing may predict serious medical issues for Fort Bragg soldiers.
